This drop-dead-gorgeous piece of California english walnut graces a 98 Mauser in .280 Remington. The stock was built in the Classic style with a shadow line cheekpiece, deeply fluted comb and a sculpted shelf beneath the bolt stop. The action, trigger guard and 2" of the barrel were epoxy bedded for full contact with the remainder of the barrel left free-floating.
A solid rubber pad, metal grip cap and ebony forend tip were fitted. Checkering was an elaborate 22 lpi fleur-de-lis pattern of my own design. Total labor charges were based on the 70 hours it took to complete this project, with the checkering contributing to a large portion of the final cost.
